colorado.dance is a public event calendar. There are no user accounts, and we collect as little as the site can function on.
What we collect
Analytics
We use Google Analytics 4 to count page views and understand which parts of the calendar people actually use — which filters, which styles, whether sharing and calendar-export get used. This is aggregate traffic measurement. We do not use it to build profiles of individuals, and we do not run advertising or remarketing tags on this site.
Event submissions
When you submit an event we store what you type into the form, plus your name and email address if you choose to give them (both are optional). The event details are published once approved. Your name and email are never published — they exist so we can say thanks or ask a question if something in the listing is unclear.
Corrections, feedback and ownership claims
If you send a correction or feedback, or claim a listing as yours, we store what you type and the page you were on. Feedback also records your browser type and screen size so we can tell what you were looking at. An email address is optional on corrections and feedback; a claim needs a name and email so we can send you a private edit link (we keep only a one-way hash of that link, not the link itself). None of this is published.
The weekly email
Only if you subscribe: we store your email address, the filters you chose (styles, city, level), the page you signed up from, and a one-way hash of your IP address. We email you only after you confirm, and every message has an unsubscribe link.
Spam protection
To stop automated spam we store a one-way hash of the submitting IP address — not the address itself — so we can rate-limit. Hashes are not reversible and are not linked to anything else. We may also use Cloudflare Turnstile, a privacy-preserving bot check that does not track users across sites.
Things we don't do
- No user accounts, so no passwords or profiles.
- No advertising networks, remarketing pixels, or data brokers.
- No selling or renting of any data, ever.
- No location tracking. Filtering by city is just a link you clicked.
Cookies and local storage
Google Analytics sets its own cookies for traffic measurement. We store your light/dark theme choice in your browser's local storage — it never leaves your device. Signing into the moderation area sets one session cookie, which only the site operator ever uses.
Who we share with
Google (for Analytics) and Cloudflare (for hosting, to deliver the weekly email if you subscribe, and Turnstile if enabled). Nobody else. Published event details are public by design — that's the point of the calendar.
Your choices
Browser do-not-track and analytics-blocking extensions work normally here; nothing on the site tries to defeat them. If you want the name and email attached to something you submitted (an event, a correction, feedback or a claim) deleted, email us and we'll do it. The event itself describes a public event and stays listed, but if anything in it is wrong, tell us and it will be fixed. To stop the weekly email, use the unsubscribe link in any message.
Children
The site lists all-ages and youth dance programs, but it isn't directed at children and we don't knowingly collect information from anyone under 13.
