About colorado.dance
One calendar for every dance class, social, practica, workshop and festival in Colorado — so nobody has to check nine Facebook groups to find out where to dance on a Tuesday.
Why it exists
Colorado's dance scene is enormous and almost completely invisible unless you're already in it. Salsa nights live on Instagram. Contra dances live on a mailing list. The country two-step crowd has its own Facebook group, the swing scene has another, ecstatic dance has a third, and every studio publishes its own schedule in its own format. If you're new, or you've just moved here, or you dance one style and want to try another, there's no front door.
This is the front door.
What gets listed
- Classes — drop-ins, series, kids programmes, technique, everything.
- Socials and practicas — the actual dancing.
- Workshops and intensives — including visiting instructors.
- Festivals, congresses and competitions.
- Performances and auditions — things to watch and things to try out for.
Every dance style qualifies. Partner dancing, studio technique, street styles, cultural and folk traditions, and movement practices like ecstatic dance all belong here. Anywhere in Colorado — not just the Front Range.
How listings get here
Anyone can add an event. No account, no fee, about a minute of typing. A weekly class only needs adding once — the calendar handles the repeats, including every-other-week and "first and third Friday" patterns.
Every submission is read by a person before it appears. That's slower than publishing instantly, but it's the only way the calendar stays worth checking. Expect roughly a day.
Keeping it accurate
Dance schedules change constantly — venues close, nights move, series end. If you spot something wrong, there's a "something wrong with this listing?" link at the bottom of every event page. Those reports go straight to the moderation queue.
Using the calendar elsewhere
Every filtered view can be subscribed to as a live calendar feed. Filter down to what you actually care about — say, beginner-friendly bachata in Boulder — then subscribe, and it keeps itself up to date in Apple Calendar, Google Calendar or Outlook.
There's also an open JSON feed with the same data and the same filters, if you want to build something with it. No key needed.
Who's behind it
colorado.dance is built and run by Zima Logistics, a small Colorado software studio. It's free to browse and free to list on.
